Signposting in Macedonia is something of an enigma, I say this from experience. 

Remember; North Macedonia is not part of the EU therefore internet costs are sky high.

My advice is to download maps of North Macedonia before arriving, therefore enabling you to always have a map at hand.

Toll roads: many roads are toll roads. I recommend having a supply of small change at the ready. The toll roads around Skopje are 40 denar, which is around 65 euro cent, or 60 pence (UK pound). You can sometimes pay with credit card but cash is the preferred option. There are no automatic booths where you throw the money in a bin and the barrier opens. All booths are manned.
